Less than 40' from the waters edge to the road. There is a big guard rail there.
it wouldn't be hard for something like a 18 wheeler to flip over that guardrail and go through that rusty fence......
if it floods that water is sure to come up on the road?
cause if im thinkin straight, it's pretty darn close to the road

stripes is pretty much right about the "quarry pond". Used to you could swim and fish in there up till '85 or so, then they fenced it off. I never heard exactly how deep it was. I only got to sneak in there one time to fish and didn't really catch anything.
There are indeed some pretty big fish in there. Used to fish and swim there before they closed it off. If you get over on the rocks (used to be a quarry until springs were hit) the water is crystal clear, I also caught a really nice bass in there once on a "spring lizard". As far as I know it has never flooded the road, there is an overflow that goes under the road to the creek on the opposite side. The divers that went in were looking for stolen merchandise put there by a ring of burglars in the mid 80's and reports are a diver saw a catfish as big as he was. The owners of the pond fenced it off. I suspected it was in part to protect themselves from a lawsuit.

I have heard Sarge Reed talk about it being there when he was a teenager if I am not mistaken, so I would say in the 40s or so.
